My Spring Festival Celebration 我的春节庆祝活动

Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, is the most important traditional festival in China. It falls on the first day of the first lunar month, which usually corresponds to late January or early February in the Gregorian calendar.

For me, celebrating Spring Festival is a time of joy, reunion, and tradition. On New Year's Eve, my family prepares a big feast with various delicious dishes. We have dishes like fish, dumplings, spring rolls, and rice cakes, each with symbolic meanings of prosperity, happiness, and good luck for the coming year. After dinner, we gather around to watch the Spring Festival Gala on TV, which is a special program featuring performances like songs, dances, skits, and acrobatics.

As the clock strikes midnight, we set off firecrackers to welcome the New Year and ward off evil spirits. The night sky is lit up with colorful fireworks, creating a festive atmosphere. The next day, we visit our relatives and friends to exchange blessings and good wishes. We say "Xin Nian Kuai Le" (Happy New Year) and "Gong Xi Fa Cai" (Wishing you prosperity) to each other, while receiving red envelopes containing money as a symbol of good luck.

During the Spring Festival holiday, I also take part in traditional activities like dragon dances, lion dances, and lantern festivals. These cultural performances bring joy and excitement to the community and showcase the rich heritage of Chinese traditions.
