Title: The Foolish Old Man Who Removed the Mountains

Once upon a time in ancient China, there lived an old man named Yu Gong, which translates to "Foolish Old Man." Yu Gong lived near two huge mountains that blocked his way and made it difficult for his family to travel. Determined to make life easier for his descendants, Yu Gong decided to remove the mountains altogether.

Despite being elderly and considered foolish by others, Yu Gong believed that with persistence, even the most daunting tasks could be accomplished. He gathered his sons and grandsons and explained his plan to them. They were to dig away the mountains piece by piece until they were no longer obstacles.

Word of Yu Gong's plan spread to a wise old man in the village named Da Yu. He came to Yu Gong and said, "You are old and weak. These mountains are vast and mighty. How do you plan to move them?"

Yu Gong replied with determination, "I may be old, but I am not foolish. With enough effort, even mountains can be moved."

Impressed by Yu Gong's determination, Da Yu decided to help him. He suggested enlisting the help of everyone in the village. So, the villagers, inspired by Yu Gong's unwavering determination, joined forces to remove the mountains.

Years passed, and the villagers worked tirelessly day after day, chiseling away at the mountains with picks and shovels. Despite facing challenges and setbacks, they never wavered in their determination.

Finally, their hard work paid off, and the mountains began to crumble. The gods, moved by their perseverance, sent two divine beings to carry away the mountains and dispose of them far into the sea.

When Yu Gong's neighbor, Zhi Sou, heard of their success, he mocked Yu Gong, saying, "You are indeed foolish. You wasted your entire life trying to move those mountains, and now you're too old to enjoy the benefits."

Yu Gong replied with a smile, "I may not live to see the mountains moved, but my descendants will no longer be hindered by them. My efforts were not in vain."

The story of Yu Gong teaches us the importance of perseverance and determination in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. It reminds us that with unwavering resolve and collective effort, even the most formidable challenges can be overcome.
