English Translation:
One two one two beats the drum, Mulan weaves at the doorway.
No sound of the loom can be heard, only the sighs of the girl.
"What are you thinking?, what are you remembering?"
"I am thinking of nothing, I am remembering nothing,"
"Last night I saw the army orders, the Khan calls a great draft,
Twelve scrolls of a summons, every one blazoned father's name,
My father has no son, Mulan has no elder brother,
I wish to buy a fine horse in the market place and bring to father's aid."

In the Southern market they seek a nice headed horse, in the Northern a singing boy,
Bidding farewell to father and mother, she lodges tonight at the Yellow River.

They return to the capital to see the Emperor, the Emperor sits in his court.
Mulan receives high honors twelve titles, bestowed on her in the Emperor's presence.
The Khan wishes to hear her heart’s desire, Mulan asks for no cabinet post.
She asks only for a swift horse, and the Emperor opens the way – returning home to see her son.
